Objective Outlook

I recently sat down with Dave. Dave is a client of ours and just like every one of his sessions, he sat down and went from zero to 60 in seconds.

He always comes knowing exactly what he wants to address. Before I can even get a sip of my coffee, he is eight paragraphs into all the nuts and bolts of what he's working on.

Dave is a master strategizer and a master implementer. He does not need my help with any of that. What Dave doesn't have though is somebody objective.

As leaders and as employees, we're all very emotionally invested in our work and that's good, we should be. The problem is that because of our emotional investment,  we can't clearly think about things the way we need to.

A coach comes in to help people see things that they're missing. Have you ever been talking to a family member or a friend and they ask you a question that makes you think "Why didn't I think of that sooner?"

That's because you're in the thick of it. We all need someone objective outside of our organization to help us navigate through the nitty-gritty details. Coaching sessions are confidential, therefore:

  1. The person you're talking with has no ties to your people or your projects and so no matter what you say, nothing is going to get back to your company.

  2. The awesome ideas you come up with during your session, you get to take back to the team and take all the credit for.

If you're looking for an objective source to help you navigate through things at work, contact us and we'll be glad to set something up on the calendar.
